About

My name is Andrey Komarov

I am a metal artist and the author of the works presented on this site

I was born and raised in Lviv. I can identify the beginning of my creative career long before the first attempts to create something with my own hands. It all started with a love of contemplating the beauty of nature. Later I got acquainted with minerals and began to interact with them. Over time, my intuition began to be supported by knowledge, and the contemplation of the stones I collected turned into something more. I wanted to reveal and enhance their beautiful light, color and shape.

When I began to create my first jewelry, people's opinions about what I was doing pushed me even more to create more and more new works.

It's no secret now that every mineral of natural origin has its own properties, not only to refract light and color, but also to affect the human body.

The setting of the mineral is also of great importance, not only from the aesthetic point of view (although this is also very important), but also as a way to enhance or weaken the properties of the set stone due to its shape and energy content during the work performed.

The main idea of my work is an attempt to create a material-spiritual connection, an idea realized through interaction with living materials, in particular minerals and metal. The naturally occurring minerals interact with humans, decorated with free-form silver and gold in combination with other techniques such as filigree, engraving, chasing, and metal reticulation. The themes are carefully thought out and selected for a particular mineral or element of jewelry.

The work that goes into creating a piece of jewelry is itself shrouded in magic, involving all four elements used by the craftsman. Fire, air, earth, and water interact closely in the workshop, and the artist manages them in a jewelry-like manner.

Every little thing matters: a detail, a day, a date, a time... And there is no limit to perfection.

The obsessive desire to do more and better does not leave me. The consciousness of the coexistence of many techniques and the desire to invent new ones do not give me rest.

Each new stone pushes me to create a new interesting work that is unlike any other. The mineral itself suggests what it wants, as if you were a tailor and dressing a client who has expressed his wishes very clearly. This clarity of vision of the frame comes at the moment of interaction with the stone, a kind of meditation.

At the same time, the desire not to lose the ability to feel stones and master as many metalworking techniques as possible stands out.
